Today, Great Spaces takes a look at Frank Gehry’s masterpiece, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA. Love him or hate him, that form is insane!
Gehry takes a lot of heat for his buildings, being criticized for their ephemerality, overly complicated shapes, and poor construction (probably due to those overly complicated shapes,) but you can’t deny their beauty. True, his buildings are usually more sculpture than structure, but isn’t that what’s appealing about them? Isn’t there a place for that in architecture? Especially when the result looks like this.
